Taijiquan is an internal martial art that, in itself, embodies the millennia-old culture of China. Its practice stems from the ancient Taoist tradition of energy work, philosophy and spirituality, as well as from various martial arts methods.
Taijiquan has spread throughout the world thanks to its slow, fluid, continuous and harmonious movements, which promote the accumulation and proper circulation of vital energy, helping practitioners maintain and strengthen their physical and mental well-being. When practiced correctly and with serious commitment, Taijiquan is also an effective and sophisticated form of self-defense. Following the principles of Taoist philosophy, it teaches practitioners to use softness to overcome rigid force. Taijiquan is also a form of moving meditation, allowing practitioners to seek the delicate balance between mind, body and spirit.
It is considered the ultimate “longevity exercise” and is suitable for both young and older people, with no inherent contraindications. Our school offers the study of the oldest style of Taijiquan: the Chen style. Its soft, spiraling movements express a state of mental tranquility, while its explosive releases of power are reminiscent of summer thunderstorms—unexpected and powerful at the same time. In Taijiquan, everyone can find what they are looking for, as long as they approach it without particular expectations, or worse, arrogance.
