Taiji Match (combat sport)
At ITKA, particular attention and professional guidance are given to those who wish to apply Taijiquan to competitive sport. Practitioners train through a basic “Taiji Match” circuit based on all the fundamental principles of Taiji, before specializing in one or two disciplines according to the relevant competition rules.
Competitions, when experienced as an opportunity for constructive comparison, are generally important and help practitioners develop their skills. For this reason, in recent years our school has also taken part in competitions that may seem far removed from our discipline, based on the idea that the skills acquired through our practice and its inherent adaptability should allow practitioners to compete in different environments, which are often richer in terms of participation. For this reason, our school takes part in various combat disciplines, including Sanda/Light Sanda, Lei Tai, Low Kick, Light Contact, Full Contact, and many others.
